MWN: So you just played SXSW how was that like?

Draper: It was amazing! I played two of the best shows I’ve ever played. Also arguably two of the most important shows I’ve ever played. I enjoyed some of the best BBQ in the world at “Cooper’s” and generally fell in love with the festival!

MWN:  What is the most memorable thing for you from SXSW?

Draper: Playing the show at swan dive patio was phenominal, the crowd reaction was top form. Also hearing Pomo play that same venue just nights before was massively enjoyable. In the down time I was also able to explore Austin on a bike. Lots of great memories.

MWN:  So a while ago, to be specific on 2010 you released your first digital EP, and it has opened many doors for you ever since you’ve worked with artist such as Rita Ora, Elli Goulding and more so how is that like. Knowing your music has gotten you that far?

Draper: Writing music is a dream job for me so being in a place that I can live off it is amazing. I never take it for granted because I’ve worked hard for this and I will keep working hard to keep it that way!

MWN:  Was the release of this first ep The Introduction EP a bit difficult?

Draper:  It was actually very simple because it was just a bit of fun. I’d never released anything so I just went on tunecore, pressed submit and that was that. The further you progress in your music career the more difficult a release becomes because of the planning that goes into a campaign.

MWN:  What is the production process like for you, how do you go about creating a new track?

Draper:  I write in a loop. I make sure I generate a vibe and a character for the track as I’m adding ideas to it. No idea is a bad idea in the writing process, some ideas will be better than others but everything gets recorded in. After you’ve heard a track a million times during the writing process it’s easier subtract ideas rather than add.

MWN:  I would say that your music is more like abstract art which is super cool, at least in form I mean. So, what is the inspiration and the message behind your tracks?

Draper:  Whatever makes me feel good and I am proud of writing then that’s what I write! I gather inspiration from anywhere I possibly can.

MWN:
This previous year you collaborated with Prides on ‘Break over You’ what was this process of collaboration like?

Draper:  Writing with Prides was one of the easiest tracks I’ve ever done. I wrote the instrumental then sent it over to the guys and they sent it back with a topline and I loved it the first time I heard it!

MWN:  The Luminous the new ep just dropped- How does it feel to finally have it released?

Draper:  It’s a great feeling when something you’ve spend ages tailoring and fine tuning finally becomes written in stone, it’s an exciting time where one body of work is released and then writing the next works begins.

MWN:  My favorite song off the record is “Who are You”. For you what would you say is your favorite songs to perform live?

Draper:  That’s a great one to perform, but “want you more” or “heartbeat close” get the crowd going and I really vibe off their response, basically doing the Mario jump.

MWN:  Lastly, what can we look for from you in the near future?

Draper: Near future will be singles, another EP, I’m playing at Talin music festival this Saturday 1st April and more festival dates!
