As someone who listens to music frequently, I’m constantly on the lookout for new artists to listen to. I listen to lots of music in different genres. One of my favorite genres has been and is pop-punk. The scene is pretty rock solid, having a perfect balance between pop and punk. Luckily, I was introduced to the Dallas-based group, Play The Ace. They are an all-female-fronted group who know how to rock out, contrary to their age. Just because someone is young, doesn’t mean they don’t know how to write or play music. “All My Friends Are Ghosts” is the recently released EP for the band. It takes a lot of work to put an EP together, they orchestrated it well. The songs sound they were meant to be together, and it is a hard skill for young bands to bands to learn. However, when I listen to them, I not only get vibes from past pop-punk but bands that are recording now. They know how to mix from both and create their own sound. My personal favorite on the EP is “Southside.” I suggest listening to the EP on Spotify, iTunes or Bandcamp.

Play The Ace is one to look out for. I am intrigued to see where their growing following on social media platforms take them. In the growing online world, it is one of the main places to grow your music. They gain a large following from the many covers they have posted. There’s nothing they can’t accomplish. Being an all-female group is never a setback for them, it pushes them further to create great tunes. Their take on pop punk sound is refreshing. The girls have great a future for them, and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go.
