There is something about the venues in Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX that the make the experience of seeing live music different- in a good way. They pack so much energy and excitement from all sorts of different people. Three Links is a venue that is known for housing punk rock shows. On Monday it hosted a band all the way from Oakland, California known as SWMRS. They filled the venue from the front entrance all the way to the stage. Their performance was far from boring. Their show and stage presences literally screams energy. The crowd- oh boy! You want to get real hyped and start mosh pits- I suggest you go to one of their shows. The cool thing about this punk rock band who sings about “Miley Cyrus” and “Cheap Beer” is how wholesome musicians they are. With all the jumping, screaming, and crowd surfing they never missed a beat. The guitar solos were sharp, the vocals were killer, the bass line was intact, and the drums never let the bands tempo auto of sight. Their interaction with their audience was not what you would expect from them. They talked to them about the perks of being “uncool” and how important it is to stay true to one self. It was cool to see the positive messages they hope to get across to their audience who is relatively younger. SWMRS is definitely a band to keep on your radar and you definitely want to see them live when they play in your city.
