Houston Texas was treated to a good old-fashion ear beating unleashed by Michigan band We Came As Romans. WCAR, one of the pioneers of metalcore/post hardcore music has been active for nearly 20 years and without a doubt left it all out on the stage Monday night. Their set began with a mysterious electronic drum that crept in with powerful 808s pulsing like the heart of a sleeping giant. The stage was backlit by a massive screen. Flashes of light provided silhouettes as each member revealed themselves. The crowd increase to madness, welcoming our headliners to The White Oak Music Hall. The opening song “Daggers” ignited the crowd into a bonfire that never stopped. Lead vocalist Dave Stephens wasted no time and found himself diving into the crowd which lifted him up as he set the bar for the night. Much respect to the fans was given between each song. At one point the band even gave the audience choice via online vote over which song they would play next. The love was felt and returned by these amazing performers. It was nonstop banger after banger and from a person who had never seen them live before, I was pleasantly surprised by how impactful their music was. The night was full of good times, mosh pits and core memories.
