“Halo” by Boston Manor is the cool drift into the unknown. The band hails from Blackpool, England and their cool-toned English band vibes stand out within their new music video.

“Halo” is the lead single from their upcoming album Welcome to the Neighbourhood.

The use of neon lights in a dimly-lit room is the first thing you see, with echoing guitar to accompany the slightly ominous mood. The lights grow into a full hue of saturation, bringing us to our main sight of the video—the band themselves.

The tilting camera angles and wide shots differ as we get different views of the scene. It paints a broader picture for the viewer, and it is a cinematic style viewing session.

One of my favorite parts is the slight reflection on the floor. For me, it’s something I always notice at live shows in particular, and it shows the bands roots of performing.

The band has on classic attire, all-black, to make the audience feel cool and collected. They stand out from the red lighting and black setting, while still maintaining it is one scene.

They use slight visual effects with a halo, bringing more meaning to the word “Halo” while still maintaining the subtle red/black theme.

A small story is playing out with shots with a young girl in a dark-watered bath tub, someone in a strong daze, a snake, and a man staring at a TV screen. All of these related in the struggles with addiction. They can get lost, choose to tame it, but go back to square one. A dangerous frenzy while remaining relatable to those who understand the struggle.

Each member has just enough energy to keep you engaged with the shots of them playing as well as the story unfolding before our eyes.

The video ends just like how it started, with each light going off one by one, much like how trying to end one’s addiction can rotate. It shows us where we started and where we ended, bringing the video full circle with our viewing.

Neon lights are hard to master and even harder to shoot, but Boston Manor did so beautifully, while not making the colors scheme too overwhelming.

The comments on the video are proof enough the guys in Boston Manor certainly have a strong fanbase committed to their platform.

If you liked the music video, check out their other music.  If you want more new songs, you’ll just have to relate till they release their second album on September 7th. I’ll sure be waiting, will you?
