Thursday July 11 I got to experience my first lovelytheband show and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Opening for them were California band, Twin XL whose intergalactic pre-recorded voice message at the start of their performance filled the venue with a feeling of excitement. Playing their upbeat songs Messy and Thrill left the crowd dancing and wanting more music. They finished their set playing their smash hit “Good,” getting the audience singing along before lovelytheband made their appearance. When it was time for lovelytheband to start their set the crowd was all fired up. The show was full of hits like “Stupid Mistakes” and “Coachella” which everyone in the venue was singing and dancing along to. Before the evening ended, lead vocalist Mitchy Collins had an important message for everyone: the world needs more love. He stated his support for the LGBTQ+ community and that living in America, a lot of people are afraid of change, but he accepts everyone being who they want to be and loving who they want to love. They played “maybe I’m afraid” after this speech and hearing them sing this live I felt so at peace, it was almost as if time stood still and they were serenading me personally. They ended their set by playing their popular hit “Broken” and coming out for an encore with “These Are My Friends.”
