Located at the heart of Seattle’s nightlife and diverse neighborhood, the 23rd annual Capitol Block Party had nearly doubled its attendance compared to last year’s festival. This year’s lineup carried a variety of genres as well as adding two more stages into the festival grounds adding more artists to the bill. While the headliners of Day 1, 2, and 3 bringing in the crowd to Capitol Hill, there were plenty of artists within Seattle’s own music scene that made sure to keep the momentum going. Day 1 gave Phantomgram’s electronic psych-pop, Day 2 being the day that sold out bringing out superstar Lizzo, and finally, Day 3 closed out the party with EDM artist RL Grime. Within the festival diverse lineup, Capitol Hill Block Party 2019 is THE block party you should have attended.

~ DAY ONE ~

Day 1 started off with a bang at the main stage lead by JPEGMafia moshing with the crowd to crowd surfing get the party started. While there were acts on the main stage such as Ekali, Big WILD, and Phantogram, Some of Seattle’s local talents off of Day 1 were the ones you should have been there to witness. At the Barboza stage, Fluencie had closed out their entire set with the crowd bumping back forth through the night. At Wildrose stage, TeZATalks closed down the house making a small crowd feel like the main stage with everyone moshing with each other to people outside of the bar coming inside just to come and see her perform. She was definitely was one of Capitol Hill Block Party’s biggest highlights out of all the acts performing at Day 1.

~ DAY TWO ~

As Day 1 of Block Party had ended, Day 2 kept the momentum going and had the highest attendance out of all 3 days selling out all the tickets. The day began with another set of Seattle’s local talents such as Perry Porter and Romaro Franscewa moshing out to the crowd getting them hyped up to for next acts later on in the day. Towards the end of the night, Neumos carried the talented Pop artist Scarlet Parke displayed a spectacular performance bringing a dance crew onstage with a packed audience that everyone on Day 2 won’t forget. At the end of Day 2, Lizzo had the entire festival grounds packed that it was difficult to navigate through. The crowd was singing out all of her songs from beginning to end.

~ DAY THREE ~

Finally, on Day 3 the festival closed out off of the main stage with a variety of acts such as Jack Harlow encouraging the crowd to mosh to Umi bringing the crowd to together as they hug each other as if nothing crazy happened. Anime and RL Grime set had the crowd bumping back and forth as the night comes to the end.  At the Neumos Stage, Nick Weaver gives a tribute to the late rappers Nipsey Hussle and Mac Miller while giving the crowd a performance accompanied by visuals spreading peace and love to all. Kung Foo Grip put all the stops bringing nonstop energy with Greg Cypher surfing into the crowd alongside bringing a special guest Jango to perform their song Legacy. The Neumos stage definitely had some of the highest attendance showcasing Seattle’s diverse music scene the city has to offer.

As Block Party comes to a close, As the headliners such as Lizzo and RL Grmie brought a great crowd into the festival grounds it was also a very incredible year for Seattle’ music scene to flex its muscles. Acts such as TeZATalks, Scarlet Parke, Romaro Franscewa, and Kung Foo Grip are gonna be acts that people who have attended this year’s is a Block Party worth remembering. The 23rd Capitol Hill Block Party was the perfect Seattle weekend that is one for the history books. We can’t wait to come back to the Block Party and do it all over again.
