Dallas, TX-based R&B/soul and pop singer-songwriter, Tayla Parx (Taylor Monét Parks) is getting out of her creative shell easily and taking over the pop charts through her multiple songwriting credits and her influence in the pop scene. Known for co-writing three Billboard Hot 100 top ten singles back in 2018, such as Love Lies by Normani, Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande, and High Hopes by Panic! At the Disco, she has already established a name for herself when it comes to songwriting and has worked with the likes of BTS, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Camila Cabello, and Fifth Harmony. Besides songwriting, she also has her own body of work and she released her debut album last year, entitled We Need to Talk. In a previous interview, she has stated that she always wants to collaborate with artists that she likes personally, in terms of the message that they convey and if they are on the rise; in this album, she has worked with artists like Joey Bada$$, Cautious Clay, and Duckwrth. With the unique style and production on the album, as well as the colorful tones on the cover art and her niche for unique and deep melodies, it is safe to say that Parx’s album is proof that she can hold her own musically. She brought her We Need to Talk tour to Toronto’s own The Baby G and decided to bring a one-woman show of her own, especially for her day one fans.

Hosted by Toronto’s well-known live urban music promotion and content platform, Rapseason, it has a reputation for showcasing well-known acts from the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Common, Khalid, and much more. Although it took a late turn than expected due to technical setup difficulties, Tayla Parx still brought the show on a high note when she performed certain tracks from the beginning like Disconnected, I Want You, and Homiesexual. Fans were very ecstatic to hear these songs and vibe out to the strong vocals, unique melodies, and the clever dance moves that she brings. Her stage setup was very unique; from my experience, she had these fans that added LED colour to the spin cycles, and it seemed like you were seeing a holographic version of an item or her name, which was very unique. The cactuses and the Tayla’s Trailer Park sign were also pretty dope too. Tayla came through with her stylish blue hair and her guitarist to perform her co-written chart-topping singles, as well as her own body of work that has a stellar R&B sound.

With other tracks that she performed like Rebound, Dirt, Afraid to Fall, and Slow Dancing, she vocally set the tone on those tracks and how she changes the style through each sound and the rhythm pattern it brings. By bringing a stellar alto/soprano sound with her vocals and with her happy dance moves, she seemed very comfortable on the stage and seemed to enjoy herself when performing. The fans, ranging from Ariana Grande fans to fans who saw her at shows where she opened from the likes of Lizzo and Anderson Paak, managed to cheer her on and be amazed by her performance. She ended her set with bangers on her album like Me vs. Us, We Need to Talk, and Tomboys Have Feelings Too.  She finished the show off well and managed to meet and communicate with her fans after the show, as a promise to the delay and the fact that she cares for her fans. Tayla Parx will continue on her tour until March 8th, 2020 at Les Etoiles in Paris, France. You can find out more on https://www.taylaparx.com/tour/.
