The Driver Era brought their “Girlfriend Tour” to Houston on 12.7.2021 at Warehouse Live and it was a sold out show that should not have been missed!

The first opener, Moontower, definitely hyped up the crowd. The electro-pop band played some of their most popular songs such as “Guess I’m Jaded” and “Lay With Me”. They even covered Britney Spears’ hit “Oops I Did It Again”, to which everyone went insane for, they prepared the audience for the next opener and the main act.

The next opener was the LA based rock band, The Wrecks. There were a lot of people in the crowd who knew every single word, which caught my surprise. They played their hit songs “Fvck Somebody” and “Favorite Liar”. The lead singer pointed out that a lot of people were singing extra hard to this song due to the fact that they probably have someone in mind when they sing it. The band definitely showcased their performance skills and tried to hype everyone up as much as possible for the main act, The Driver Era.

It was finally time for the show to start, the lights went out and the entire building cheered and screamed for the band, which consists of brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch, accompanied by touring members and siblings Riker and Rydell Lynch as well as Chase Meyer. Rocky and Ross came out at the top of some stairs and opened with “Take Me Away”, immediately all the fans started screaming the lyrics. I haven’t heard a crowd this loud in years, it still amazes me how music can bring many people together. The band continued to play more songs in support of the “Girlfriend Album” such as “Flashdrive”, “Heart Of Mine”, “Heaven Angel” and many more.

There was a moment where Ross stopped the show because he noticed a fan in the crowd needed help. He immediately called security/medics over to the section and also had them pass out waters. Ross asked fans if everything was then okay, and once he got the green light from the fans, he started the show again. It was great to see an artist have so much interaction with their fans and constantly make sure that they’re doing okay, it’s not something that is seen often. Once the show resumed, Ross and Rocky continued their 21 song setlist that featured songs from the entire band’s career, which dates back to 2018. “San Francisco” and “Nobody Knows” were songs I noticed that fans sang the loudest from the debut album “X”.

There was also a fan who had a sign that asked the band if he could play “Low” on guitar with them, the band said yes and invited him on stage to play! He was hitting every note accurately and the fans were cheering him on, the band was also very impressed with him. The show finished with the song “A Kiss” and everyone screamed their hearts out. They sang word by word with a bittersweet feeling knowing that it was the last song of the show, but happy because they got to see their favorite band. Please end the year well and attend a Driver Era show if they come near you, it’s one you want to miss!
