Anamanaguchi took The Wiltern by storm on a Friday evening in Los Angeles. Anamanaguchi is a pop-rock band comprised of  Peter Berkman, Ary Warnaar, James DeVito, and Luke Silas. They are well known for their music in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game. The band announced they would play a special show just for Los Angeles on the day of the release of the new Netflix animated show Scott Pilgrim Takes Off which is inspired by the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels as well as the 2010 film adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Fans immediately sold out this show. The venue was filled with crowds of excited fans dressed for the occasion with their Scott Pilgrim vs. The World merch on. As the lights dimmed, the center screen presented Anamanaguchi’s rendition of the Universal Pictures intro song as the fans roared. The screen suddenly flashes the animated series of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as the band starts playing their rendition of the Mortal Kombat theme. The screen continued to play the intro of the new show. The band then transitions into playing some tracks from their 2019 album U.S.A. before they play their songs off of the new Scott Pilgrim Takes Off soundtrack and the video game soundtrack. They start with their song “Air on Line”. The screen behind them carries us through various formations of colors as the lights surrounding the band shine brightly in vibrant colors. They follow the song with their next track “On My Own” which is supported by a mix of different famous internet clips playing behind them such as lofi-girl. The lights move incredibly well to the beats of the music. Their music radiates amazing energy.

The band then transitions back to playing music from the video game soundtrack. The screen reverts back to playing clips from Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and the video game. The band played songs like “Bollywood”. They played a mix of music throughout the night from the video game and show and then back to their own music. It was a very fun mix of tracks and visuals on the screen. Anamanaguchi closed their show with their famous song “Miku” and finally “Meow”.

This concert was a very special treat for their fans. This band always puts on very unique shows! They take you through dazzling worlds with their music. If you are a fan of the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World or its video game, you do not want to miss them playing a show near you!
