MWN: I’m here with upcoming R&B duo Ar’mon and Trey for Music, Why Not! Thanks for taking the time to sit and talk with me.

Trey: Yeah any time. Thank you.

MWN: Alright Let’s get started. Where did you guys grow up and when did you guys discover your musical talent?

Ar’mon: We grew up in Detroit. Detroit, Michigan. We’re talking about music right? Well we all know Detroit originated with music like Motown. We grew up there. It was lit, but not musically. It was more like sports. You know, it went from music then it went to sports. Now we’re trying to get back to the music way. We’re trying o bring that back, we’ll bring that back.

Trey: Yeah we started singing when we were pretty young. About 4 or 5. We grew up singing in church you know, just being around family who loved old school music.

MWN: Detroit has a rich musical history like you were just saying, from anybody like Debarge to Aaliyah, Eminem and even Big Sean. So did the city influence your music at all?

Ar’mon: Umm…yeah! I feel like today’s music from where we’re from really didn’t like play impact on us. We like listening to it but we really like listening to the old school music. Cause we like to sing R&B and soul

MWN: Yeah.

Ar’mon: The old school the Motown is what we really listened to and took our roots from.

Trey: Honestly, Detroit now is not really R&B. It’s like rap. It’s most known for rap. It’s like most people coming out of the city are rappers.

Ar’mon: Last time a singer came out of Detroit was when? Aaliyah, right?

MWN: Yeah. That’s probably the last act I can think of.

Ar’mon: Yeah, Aaliyah. Besides us.

MWN: I can definitely see the old school influence in your guys’ music and performance. When I was looking at your performances, there’s not really many R&B acts that are still providing vocals and the choreography like you guys do.  To me that was like a breath of fresh air.

Ar’mon & Trey:: Thank you! Thank you!

MWN: Who are your guys’ musical influences?

Ar’mon: We have a lot of musical influences. Michael Jackson, Prince, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Beyonce.

Trey: Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Usher… the list is pretty long

Ar’mon: All the greats basically.

Trey: We just love everybody.

MWN: You guys first found notoriety through vine and your online presence is massive. 1 million plus Instagram followers, over 200 million views on YouTube. The video for your new single Forever had 5million plus views last time I checked. Y’all have been doing numbers online. How important has the internet been to your career?

Ar’mon: Oh it’s lit you know. Our career and the music industry period revolves around streams right now. Actually, Forever is at 25 million streams altogether like on all platforms.

Trey: And we’re just happy everything is going just how we want it cause we started off as cover artists but our original music is getting accepted and received more than the covers. Our original music is doing way more than the covers and the covers were oing millions too. So it just feels good to know that we’re blessed for people to love us for our original music as well as our covers.

MWN: So is The Fever Tour your guys’ first tour?

Trey: Yeah it’s our first tour.

Ar’mon: Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, this is our first country wide tour! We did a 3 city tour last year but this is our first big tour.

Trey: The Fever Tour has been going on for several weeks now, you’ve performed in multiple cities. Which city brought out the best energy, which city was your favorite to perform in?

Ar’mon: All of them!

Trey: All of them were very turnt! Each one of them was very turnt up. But my favorite place so far has been Dallas.

Ar’mon: Yes! Dallas!! Dallas and Oakland! Oakland went nuts for us and Dallas!

MWN: What was the process like creating your first EP, Long Story Short?

Ar’mon: Definitely fun. Me and bro try to keep our work fun. Don’t get me wrong though, we do work diligently but we try to keep it fun, we try to keep it exciting for ourselves. We just try to go through the stories that we’ve been through.

Trey: Yeah. Creating the Ep was very fun. It was just a lot of hard work out into it and you could say we’ve been working on the Ep for over more than a year. We were supposed to been put one out but it just wasn’t time.

Ar’mon: It was five new songs.

MWN: Do you guys write your own songs? Do you guys have writers?

Ar’mon Trey:: Yeah we write.

MWN: Wow that’s impressive.

Ar’mon: Thank you

MWN: You guys show no signs of slowing down any time soon, I feel like your fan base is growing every day. So what should the world expect next from Ar’mon & Trey?

Trey: You can expect to start seeing us on y’all TVs!

Ar’mon: Everywhere!

Trey: BET awards, The Grammys, and we also ac too so were gonna be in some movies, TV shows

Ar’mon: All that!

Trey: Yeah! And y’all need to expect an album too cause that’s coming!

Ar’mon: And we just gonna be lit! We just gonna keep going up!

MWN: Thank you guys for taking the time to sit down and talk with us.

Ar’mon & Trey: No problem bro. Thank you!
