Austin City Limits – Day 2

Day 1 of ACL left us excited to see what the weekend was going to offer, and Day 2 of the festival did not disappoint. As soon as we walked into the festival we witnessed a marching band performing for everyone. The crowd surrounded the band playing, while recording and cheering them, they gave us an amazing welcome to the second day.

During the first few hours of the festival fans were able to see many popular artists such as Neil Frances, Tai Verdes and even Ripe. As we walked around the festival we visited the merch store, tried different foods and treats at the ACL Eats section of the festival and even helped attendees take some pictures for their social media accounts. As we’ve said, there is something for everyone to do at this festival. Princess Nokia took the T-Mobile stage at 3:15 and opened the set in a unique way. The rapper came out with a water gun and squirted the audience with water. She rapped, moaned, danced and made the stage fully hers, nothing was going to stop her from making her set memorable. Next, we managed to catch Wallows at the American Express stage. We’ve seen the band in an intimate setting before so we were excited to see what a festival set from them would look like. They opened their set with “I’m Full” followed by “Scrawny”, as soon as the band stepped out on stage the fans did not stop cheering. The stage presence they presented during the set in the extreme heat was like no other, they definitely know how to put on a show no matter the circumstance.  The band ended the set with “Are You Bored Yet?” a collaboration featuring Clairo. If there’s one thing we can say, it is that no one was bored with Wallows’ set.

Lil Nas X was one of the acts myself and the crowd were excited to see. His set was split up into 3 different acts, during the first act he came out with gold plated armor and opened with “Panini”. Lil Nas sang many iconic songs such as “Old Town Road”, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, and even “Industry Baby”. The set was full of intricate choreography, outfit changes and visuals, he is taking the industry by storm and we can’t wait to see what else he is going to do. The day was followed by two EDM sets back to back. First, was Diplo performing in a Buc-ee’s onesie. The set was full of spectacular lights, visuals and even a surprise guest, Oliver Tree. Following Diplo’s set, attendees went over to the Honda stage to watch Flume. The DJ opened his set with “The Difference” and fans immediately started singing and dancing along, there was nothing but smiles from the audience and DJ.

We ended the day watching the one and only P!NK. She opened her set with “Get the Party Started” which was honestly an incredible way to start the show. She performed many of her popular songs including “Raise Your Glass”, “Try” and “Just Give Me a Reason”. During her set she spoke about songs that she wished she would have written, and covered “River” by Bishop Briggs and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, every person in the audience was singing at max capacity. She finished her set with “So What” and did her aerial acrobatics above the audience. You could hear the audience going “wow” as the popstar danced and did her routine above everyone. It was a great way to end the festival’s second day.
