Pop trio Belanova perform their last US date of the VIDA EN ROSA Tour at Houston’s Smart Financial Centre.

After making their comeback slowly, Mexican pop trio Belanova reunited for the first time in six years to perform across the United States and Mexico. According to lead vocalist Denisse Guerrero, she garnered her spark to perform on stage again after a cathartic performance with Carla Morrison back in November of 2023. The band last performed in Houston back in 2016, so Houston was definitely in for a treat. Belanova has been around since the formation in 2000, and reached momentous success with their second album Dulce Beat in 2005, which features the memorable “Rosa Pastel,” “Por Ti” and “Me Pregunto.” The trio last released an album in 2018 titled Viaje al Centro del Corazón, which also marked their last tour cycle until now.

The venue was packed with fans wearing glittery outfits, and others wore fits that resembled Guerrero’s iconic mid-2000s look. As there was no opening act, the band took the stage promptly at 8:30p.m, starting their set with “Me Pregunto” and “Niño” from Dulce Beat. Throughout their set, they also paid homage to their debut album Cocktail, as they played “Barco de Papel,” “Suele Pasar” and “Tus Ojos.” On top of playing classics, the band also performed their hits such as “Cada Que…,” “Mariposas,” “Por Ti” and “One, Two, Three, Go! (1, 2, 3, Go).”

On top of performing originals, Belanova also performed a variety of cover songs. They performed their song “Eres Tu,” the spanish version of “What I’ve Been Looking For” from the hit Disney Channel Movie High School Musical. Guerrero stepped away from the stage and returned wearing a flouncy lace robe, and dedicated the next cover song to the people from Mexico. She stated that no matter how many places she goes, nothing beats her hometown in Mexico before performing the Juan Gabriel track “Amor Eterno.” After performing an intimate set, Guerrero took off her high heeled boots and danced around the stage as the band performed a cover of Selena’s “Como La Flor.”

Guerrero once again left the stage and came back wearing a red tinsel sweater, with fans dressed equally as extravagant as the singer. She asked each fan, including two children, what their inspiration for their fits were, each of them answering that they were inspired by Belanova’s second album Dulce Beat and its lead single “Rosa Pastel.” The fans remained on stage as the band performed “Mariposa.” Belanova ended their set with the song everyone was waiting for, “Rosa Pastel,” and the band absolutely delivered a spectacular performance.

Belanova was one of the biggest Mexican pop bands in the early and mid-2000s. While each member subsequently took a small break from the band to work on their own projects, the ‘Vida En Rosa’ tour proved to the world that they still have that ‘IT’ factor. The group continues to make strides in the Mexican pop world, showing that this tour wasn’t just a reunion tour – it was a nostalgic ride.
