BENEE @ O2 Ritz – Manchester, U.K.

With her 2019 TikTok hit ‘Supalonely’, New Zealand singer and songwriter BENEE burst onto the scene with her incredibly catchy tunes and unique sound. The 22-year-old, real name Stella Rose Bennet, released her second EP “Stella and Steve” off of the back of the ‘Supalonely’ release which was very well received in her fanbase. In her rising career BENEE has earned five entries on the Triple J Hottest 100 and cleaned up at the 2020 New Zealand Music Awards winning single of the year, best solo artist of the year and best pop artist of the year. Most recently she released her third EP, “Lychee” on 4 February 2022 and was now ready to head out on her first ever headlining world tour. We were lucky enough to catch the superstar in Manchester as she took over the Manchester O2 Ritz for a very special night. Support for the night came from the brilliant Hope Tala.

One thing that has to be said about BENEE when she performs live is that she has phenomenal energy, from unique and hilarious dances to just incredible live vocals she has it all. You could see how much fun she was having during her performance throughout the entire night and it was a brilliant sight to see. She kicked off the night with ‘Happen to me’ and the entire Manchester crowd all went crazy. As the night continued BENEE took her fans on a tour through her discography performing songs from the beginning of her career and songs from her recent release. Fan favourites were welcomed with open arms as she played ‘Glitter’, ‘Soaked’ and ‘Same Effect’. By the time she got around to playing the previously mentioned ‘Supalonely’ the night had already been solidified as an incredible show, so this performance just took it to the next level and it felt like the roof was about to come off the place! BENEE has such an interesting and unique sound that is so refreshing to hear and she’s clearly destined for the bright lights and set to have a massive career, we can’t wait to hear what she puts out in a potential future studio album!
