Bowling For Soup, Less Than Jake and The Aquabats joined forces to bring a triple dose of Pop Punk and Ska for the Back To The Attack Tour. The second to last show of the tour was at a sold out House of Blues in Chicago, where entire families gathered to see the 3 bands perform their greatest hits.
First on stage were The Aquabats, the self-proclaimed greatest super hero rock band, who started the show with songs like “Fashion Zombies!” and “Cat With 2 Heads!”. Not only were the band wearing their iconic uniform called rashguards, but kids and adults in the crowd were dressed in full costume with helmets and face masks. The Aquabats put on a fun show and bring the joy of his TV show and Youtube videos on stage. During songs like “Pizza Day!” they threw inflatable pizza slices to the crowd and invited 2 kids to crowd surf on them, and when they played “The Shark Fighter!” the band threw inflatable sharks that fans were able to take home after the show. Their performance also included covers of “Jump” and “Eruption” by Van Halen and “Your Love” by The Outfield, before finishing their set with the songs “Super Rad!” and “Pool Party!”
Less Than Jake were the second band to take the stage and started their set with songs like “Automatic”, “Lie To Me” and “Johnny Quest Thinks We’re Sellouts”. The crowd jumped around and started a small mosh pit to the rhythm of their songs. The ska band is celebrating 30 years on the road and you can see they enjoy their time on stage, with a great stage presence and dynamic between the members on stage. The set was full of fans favorite songs from their nine albums including “The Science of Selling Yourself Short”, “The Ghost Of Me And You” before finishing their set with their biggest hit “All My Best Friends Are Metalheads”.
Bowling For Soup took the stage as the headliners of the night and stated that this show was a statement for Emo and Pop Punk and started their show with some of their hits like “High School Never Ends”, “Ohio (Come Back to Texas)” and “My Hometown.” The band spent a good amount of their set talking and joking with the audience, even doing a joke contest in the middle of their performance. But they keep the music coming with songs like “The Last Rock Show” and “Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day”, the theme song of the TV show Phineas and Ferb. The crowd jumped and sang all the lyrics of “Punk Rock 101” and “Girl All The Bad Guy Wants”, and for the last song of the night they saved their biggest hit “1985” and they bring on stage actor Thomas Ian Nicholas from movies like Rookie Of The Year and American Pie to perform the song with them.
