Sydney, Australia’s indie folk-rock based band Boy & Bear, have a unique love and passion, when it comes to performing in Canada and going to a multitude of cities, where they have managed to gain a strong fanbase there. Formed in 2009, the band is known for their astonishing, intricate vocals and their heartwarming comfort and great vibes whenever they perform for their fans.
With the band’s love for blending a multitude of genres, as well as their love for performing covers and Carlos Santana’s signature guitar playing, you are destined to see greatness for the band’s entire performance and how their music is still relevant today, for people young and old. For support, the band honoured and brought one of the most well-known and multi-genre friendly rock band, Stu Larsen.
Stu Larsen warmed up the crowd with some good songs to play for the fans at this nearly packed show. He also brought the drummer of Boy and Bear, Tim Hart to perform a couple of tracks that they have made together, while the drummer plays the guitar. With the way he performed his guitar and how he managed to vibe from track to track, he seemed much comfortable performing and felt pleased while he performed with his guitar.
The crowd was much excited for his set and were waiting on more for his performance and what would happen next. His vocal ranges were quite intricate and gentle and bring an interesting sense of emotion and confidence whenever he performed.
Boy and Bear came by with a five-piece band to perform a stellar amount of songs from their old and new projects. Due to not performing in Toronto for up to three years, it has been a while since they stepped foot onto Toronto and give their day one and new fans a variety of songs for them to check out and hear. The production and lighting for both sets
The vocal range and creative production style of the band and its lead singer was something quite unique that I had not experienced from an indie rock band, but it was something that I could say was my favourite part. Being from Australia, they gave a ‘down under’ welcome for their Canadian fans and managed to show much love to the audience and people around them. The lead singer really brings a great amount of emotion and shows that he really cared for the fans and bring an amazing show for them
Overall, this was a unique introduction for me on Australian indie rock and I would definitely recommend this band if you want a fix on experimental, Aussie, indie rock. For the encore, they performed a medley of two tracks together, as well as to other separate tracks, in which they were Limit of Love, Fall at Your Feet/Heart of Gold, and Southern Sun.
Boy & Bear will continue their North American tour on until October 12th, 2019 in San Diego, California at the House of Blues San Diego. For their European tour, they will start on February 5th, 2020 in Antwerp, Belgium and will finish on February 26th, 2020 in London,
