Bunbury Music Festival 2018 Throwback!

In late May of 2018, I got approved to cover my first music festival. Bunbury Music Festival takes place in Sawyer Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of the headliners were Jack White, The Chainsmokers, Blink 182, Post Malone, etc. Unfortunately I got the sad news that Blink 182 wasn’t heading anymore. As soon as I got to the festival grounds, I was met with lines of people, everyone filled with excitement immediately putting good vibes through my body. The staff were super friendly and helped with all my questions. Security was awesome, making sure everyone got in and out of the festival safely. I overall was super impressed and satisfied with the festival. It was an amazing experience. Now I am going to get into a few of the acts that I covered.

The Front Bottoms was the first act I covered at this lovely festival. The folk punk/indie rock band is from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Kicking off the band in 2008 with their first album “I Hate My Friends” and their EP “Brothers Can’t Be Friends” I’d say they are doing a great job. They absolutely killed it at the festival! I got to hear some songs of their most recent album “Going Grey” which really got me pumped up for this festival and what I was about to experience. I would most certainly see them again!

Yong the Giant rocked out on the main stage! Based out of California, the group has come so far with their insane talent and style. This being my first time seeing them, it was an absolute blast! Their first album was “Young the Giant” in 2010. As the sun set, I remember the environment being so hyped as they played their hit “My Body”. Not long after Bunbury, their album “Mirror Master” came out in Mid-October. Definitely won’t be the last time I see them.

The Chainsmokers I have always heard great things about their live performances. They BLEW MY MIND!! Absolutely amazing performance. Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart are based out of New York City. It amazes me how fast they blew up!  I remember hearing rumors around the festival that Halsey was going to come out for their one song “Paris” which is on their album “Memories… Do Not Open”. This was by far my favorite set at Bunbury.

Foster the People based out of Los Angeles, California. The indie group started up in 2009 immediately hitting radio stations with “Pumped up Kicks”. The guys put on a spectacular performance. An awesome band to vibe to while the sun sets for sure.

And to save the best for last…

Post Malone is an American rapper. His name is Austin Richard Post and he is from Grapevine, Texas. His hip hop career kicked off in the matter of seconds. Seeing his set at Bunbury was honestly life changing. There is nothing I love more than strong energy at concerts. The way Post Malone connected with his crowd was absolutely mind blowing. Stoney is definitely my favorite album. I would absolutely see Post Malone again.

Overall the festival made my whole summer. From getting there and seeing the huge lines to get into the venue, huge smiles on everyone’s faces, rainstorm causing everyone to hide in the tunnel that connects the park, to everyone partying and dancing around and going crazy to the chainsmokers, to finishing the festival with Post Malone. I am so happy I was able to attend and I am definitely looking forward to Bunbury 2019!
