Calvin Valentine is the master of many trades. But most recently, the master of his recent album Keep Summer Safe. This is a title we can all benefit from, especially in the months winding down from the summer, entering the fall. The album released on Nov 14 under Mello Music Group.
Valentine is from Eugene, Oregon. The state carries a cool vibe much like what I feel when I listen to the album. However, the album outshines more than that small detail. His growth as a musician has completely come full circle with this release. Valentine has produced for many people under the sun. Some of the highlights are: De La Soul & Nas, Illa J, and Disney star Ryan Beatty. Not only that, but he has licensed music for MTV, Skype and the Aids Awareness Campaign.
He is multifaceted and has something everyone can benefit from. Which is why I gave the album a try, even if it isn’t my general type of music. My favorite song off the album is track number 8, “Lake House.” It has a cool vibe to it, something that’s a bit different than the rest of the tunes from the record. Overall, the album flows nicely and the story of Summer is intertwined as you make your way through the tracks. The album, which is composed of 10 songs, is full of emotion and great rhymes to carry it through. Keep Summer Safe is a great listen if a cool, soulful song is what you are in to. Check it out!
