Catfish & The Bottlemen played a sold out show in Austin, TX this past Friday – May 24. It was energetic and completely wild.
There supporting Canadian alternative rock band known as July Talk warmed up the crowd with their enchanting performance. They played a set of about half an hour. It was cool to see the crowd get super pumped for an opening band! They total deserve all the crowds love as they left everything they had on that stage.
Catfish and The Bottlemen took the stage when the sun had just set. The night fell onto the stage and there crazy light work carried the insane sold out crowd through their performance. They played songs from both their first released album The Balcony and their newest one The Ride, amounting to about an hour and a half of madness and just old school rock and roll. People think rock is dead.. ahaa they probably have not heard of Catfish and The Bottlemen. The band consists of lead singer Van McCann, Johnny Bond on guitar , Benjamin Blakeway on bass, and Bob Hall on drums.
They opened up with a banger- a song of their first album- “Homesick.” They carried on playing hits such as “Fallout,” “Cocoon,” “Outside,” and “Hourglass.” There were magical moments where the crowd was so loud that front man Van just let them sing a couple of lines. The energy was so high that he even went on to the barricades to sing directly to the hundredths of people rocking out. They finished their set with their band anthem “Tyrants.” It was incredible seeing the crowd prep emotionally for the end of a gig by singing all the words to “Tyrants.” We all wished it would of lasted forever. They stroke the last chords and sang the end chorus and the crowd went crazy.
I would say it was by far one of the best gigs I have seen at Stubb’s BBQ. I highly recommend you check them out when they make their stop in your city or one near you. In the meantime check out our concert gallery from that nights gig!
