Music, Why Not!

Chvrches @ Pioneer Works – New York, NY

“I feel incapable of saying it’s over” lyrics never rang truer than after seeing the venue lights turn on after a stellar Chvrches performance. A day after playing the iconic Radio City Music Hall, the band was invited to perform at Converge. An event dedicated to the showcasing of the merger between technological prowess and art. Fitting, as the band wields an arsenal of tech powering their synth pop sound.

Though not a full set, as the show was a free event  the band nevertheless played with a sold-out-arena energy. With a set list encompassing the band’s entire discography, eager fans had plenty to cheer for. The fan boy in me having not been able to catch a Chvrches show this tour run, cried a little when “Recover” was thrown into the mix. Which with the advent of their newest album, I had thought to be retired from their live set list and was instead, treated to an early Christmas present.

Despite having an album entitled “Love Is Dead” traces of it can most definitely be found in the music put forth by Chvrches. Whether it be from the bonds formed amongst fans or the music that brings them all together, love is not dead.
