Teragram Ballroom was buzzing last Friday night when Colony House brought their energetic and engaging live show to LA. Fresh of a new album (Leave What’s Lost Behind) and a few stops into their tour, the four piece had total control of the crowd from the start.
Opening with the smash “Looking for Some Light” off of their new album, frontman Caleb Chapman started the show serenading the audience from the VIP balcony. The song, with its climactic hook and sweeping melody, erupted out of the speakers. Chapman slowly made his way through the crowd as the song came to a close and eventually greeted the Angelino crowd. A hell of a way to open a show.
Colony House made their way through old and new material, always stopping to interact with the audience in some fashion. At one point, Chapman invited a fan to come on stage and play a song. At another, he went on a long monologue about his experience abroad and how important decency to one another is. Later on, he went back into the crowd, this time staying on the crowd floor, and played a quieter, more personal tune to the adoring onlookers.
In the encore, the group played two of their most popular songs, “Silhouettes” and “You Know It”, embraced one another, and took a bow that everyone knew they deserved. Colony House resumes their tour across the country and eventually concludes in Tennessee on September 13th.
