Fresh at the start of their summer 2019 tour, cult indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie played to a full house at Revention Music Center last night in Houston. Supporting their new album Thank You for Today, the band started off the set with the first track off of the album, I Dreamt We Spoke Again, giving their 3000+ fans exactly what they wanted the melodic guitars, sweet synths and vocalist Ben Gibbard’s soft yet haunting voice as music to their ears.
Throughout the 90-minute set, Death Cab covered songs from their distinguished and beloved catalog playing 2000’s favorites such as”Crooked Teeth,” “I Will Possess Your Heart” and one of my personal faves “Title and Registration.” The Houston crowd was enchanted and mesmerized by the Seattle alt-rockers as they strummed, drummed and rocked their way through the songs that touched so many emo hearts.
Death Cab did not disappoint as fans swayed, clapped and sang their way through the 20+ song set filled with songs that bring back memories of love, relationships ending, and loneliness of the early 00’s. Be still my emo heart and yours. If you want to see an exceptional show and relive your emo-indie playlist, head to your nearest venue and see Death Cab for Cutie live.
