Toronto-based pop and EDM singer-songwriter Delaney Jane just recently released her debut album, Dirty Pretty Things. The album features a couple of unique artists that cater to her sound, such as EDM producer Shaun Frank and singer-songwriter/rapper Call Me Karizma. Delaney had worked on this album since the beginning of 2017 and has many notable hits, such as Psycho, Bad Habits, Throwback, L.U.I., and Safe with You. The album caters to many people who love her EDM/Pop sound as well as a lot of people who love supporting homegrown talent, and Delaney has many Toronto fans who support her. To celebrate her debut album, Delaney set up a pop-up concert in her city, Toronto, at the most well-known venue, Mod Club Theatre. For openers, she brought rising Toronto R&B/pop singer-songwriter Langston Francis, who recently signed a partnership deal with Sony Music Canada through his Humble Rockstars label imprint.
Starting was Langston Francis; the Toronto singer started the show with tracks like Bad Influence, Fall From Grace, FCK IT UP, and Somebody Else. Spotted in a white and black checkered dress suit, he and the band he brought performed those songs which brought a lot of great melodies and tones within the production and orchestration. His stage presence and performance toward the crowd made an impact on the crowd since lots of people were vibing to the song and some people were dancing. His vocals and the process of performing each song were spectacular since his breath takes were on point, the way he deepens the wording of each verse to make it intricate and emotional, and how he managed to deliver the verses very well. The stage production and lighting brought a lot of radiance, in which it felt strong for Langston’s presence and on how he wants to be presented as well. Being a young artist in the music industry, he held his own when he performed and finished the show off on a great note for his older fans and fans who started to get to know him more as an artist.
After Langston’s set, Delaney Jane came on stage but had a mishap on the first try when she performed. But on the second try, she performed quite well. Her vocals kind of remind me like female singers like Julia Michaels, Billie Eilish, and Alina Baraz. The way she incorporates her deep, pop-sounding vocals with her “sad-themed song” subject matter brings unique flavours to it and brings a certain emotion that most people can relate to. She performed a variety of tracks like Bad Influence, Psycho, Happy Song, Red, Throwback, and her recent hit, Safe With You. Delaney has a wonderful stage presence and the way she interacts with the crowd is very unique and intimate, based on the crowd’s reaction and the way she feels about the crowd. With her chill production, the presence of her deep vibes strengthens for her songs, especially for her hooks and pre-choruses. Delaney also brought out rapper and singer-songwriter, Call Me Karizma, to perform their collaborative track, Hello My Loneliness. Call Me Karizma also performed one of his recent tracks, We’re Just Kids, and Delaney’s fans were very receptive to the song and enjoyed it.
Delaney brought unique vibes whenever she moved around and danced, especially whenever she’s on stage and how it made her natural whenever she performs. She also danced from time to time, especially when Call Me Karizma was performing. The crowd was also engaged with the music as well and seemed to have a great time as well. There was also some older Delaney Jane fans as well; she closed off the show on a great note and it was something to check and view since each song had a story beyond it, as well.
