Discover Anna Tosh’s Solo Project

Every once in awhile you’ll listen to an artist you are so intrigued by, you just have to listen to more. For me, it was artist Anna Tosh. From London, her talent takes her above many who are doing the same thing. Coming from such an iconic city for music, she has set herself apart. Even though her roots are in punk, rock and blues, she has talent for whatever goes her way.

Anna Tosh said, “My intention for my solo project was simply to write some songs for myself, with no boundaries or expectations.” Going in with open eyes, I was pleasantly surprised when I head the first track “Weightless.” I listened to the track on its own before watching the music video. I don’t want to give myself any visual cues. I prefer to be one with the music when I’m determining my feelings on the track.

After listening, I went to Youtube to watch the music video. I would describe the video for ‘Weightless’ as “cool-toned psychedelic.” The majority of the colors used are blue-toned, but that doesn’t stop them from bringing and merging in other colors. It is beautiful. The use of water is breath-taking, it brings you into the scene with her. It has around 400 views, and it’s just at a month in it’s lifetime. I expect it to gather more as more people discover Anna Tosh.

The next song, ‘Edge of Cool’ is my favorite of the two. It just reminds of me of something Spotify would curate for me on my weekly playlist. It would be something I’d want to see again. Anna has been playing guitar since she was a teenager, and you can really tell. The knowledge of each chord can only come from someone who has a great deal of experience with the guitar. She embodies the music and creates it into her own world. She is truly captivating.

Overall, I think Anna Tosh has something going for her, and not many artists have the level of cool she provides. I really hope she doesn’t lose the level of uniqueness in her voice and vibe she gives off. This would be a gig I’d go to and an artist I’d love to see grow.
