It has been seven years since Echosmith released their first album Talking Dreams. Seven years! That album was my go to as a Senior in high school. Now I’m so excited to say that with the release of Echosmith’s sophomore album, Lonely Generation, they are back better than ever and I have a new go to album!

Just by listening to the new album you can really identify the growth and maturity that the sibling trio has gone through. Lonely Generation touches on deeper topics about today’s society and is extremely relatable. I was stoked to hear they were coming back to Salt Lake City, Utah. With them they were bringing two openers, Jayden Bartels and Weathers. I got there right before Weathers was about to go on and I was prepared for the amount of energy that was about to hit the stage. I had covered a Weathers show last year and discovered their crazy, good music and their insane stage performance. They came on and instantly won the crowd over with their vocals and moves. Their engagement with the crowd was awesome and they were able to get the audience sing along to songs they taught them. The boys really are bouncing around on stage and being true rockstars, with mic stand tricks and serious dancing.  It left the crowd energized for Echosmith to come on.

If you didn’t know, Echosmith is a trio of siblings and their dad manages the band. His name is Jeff and I got a chance to meet him right before they hit the stage. He was eager and counting down the minutes to showtime. He told us, “I’ve only missed two shows in thirteen and a half years!” That’s honestly so heartwarming to hear and know how close this musical family is.

Echosmith came out on stage and started off the show by performing “Love You Better” and the crowd started screaming, especially once these giant balloons filled with confetti were thrown into the crowd. A few of the balloons would bounce back to the stage and the band would pop them, making the confetti explode. It was beautiful! I haven’t seen Echosmith live since 2015 and it was so amazing to see how happy they all looked on stage. I am glad to see them back in full force.
