Music, Why Not!

George Ezra @ M&S Bank Arena – Liverpool, U.K.

George Ezra, singer, songwriter and guitarist. Laureate of Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist.

Ezra returned to the Liverpool M&S Bank Arena to play the first gig from his autumn tour, promoting latest and third album ‘Gold Rush Kid’.  Before Ezra appeared on the stage, fans had a chance to see Beatenberg, South African musicians presenting their pop jazz set. They presented themselves very well and received massive ovation following each song performed. George Ezra with his band started his set just after nine. They started with ‘Anyone for you’ released as the first single from Ezra’s last album. Next we heard hits like ‘Cassy O’ and ‘Get Away’.  I remember photographing George Ezra for the first time in 2014, not in the arena, but at the small Cafe, Leaf on Bold Street in Liverpool City centre. Interestingly, the supporting artist that night was Sam Fender! This is why you should support young artists and see their gigs. With a bit of luck, you can see interesting artists at the beginning of their careers, and for a fracture of the ticket price.

Ezra at that time was yet to release an album and that night he played songs from his EPs including the songsong ‘Did You Hear the Rain?’  And we heard this song just few minutes later in the night. George Ezra has a very good connection with the audience and after every song he was explaining why and when he wrote each song.  In total, the artist presented 19 songs.  A mix of old and new tunes like ‘Sweetest Human Being’, accompanied by just a pianist and the guitar.  The biggest hit, ‘Shotgun’ was performed by everyone in the arena, this was the last song of the evening.  It was the first night of the tour and Ezra will visit cities in the UK, Australia and mainland Europe, perhaps USA in the near future. So, if you are planning to attend don’t hesitate and grab your tickets now.
