Girl in Red @ House of Blues – Houston, TX

Girl in Red brought her sold out Make It Go Quiet Tour to Houston and wow, was it an incredible show.

Fans lined up hours early to try and get a good spot inside the venue. As soon as the doors opened, everyone ran inside and cheered in excitement as they were getting closer and closer to show time. The show opened with English artist Holly Humberstone. She opened with her song “Overkill”, immediately you could hear some fans yelling the lyrics and singing along with Holly, it was pretty great to see. I really admired Humberstone and her musical talent, she would sing and play different instruments all for one song, that’s an incredible talent. She continued to perform more songs from her discography such as “Deep End”, “London is Lovely” and “The Walls Are Way Too Thin”. She’s set to open for Olivia Rodrigo later in the Spring, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Holly.

It was finally time for Norwegian singer Marie Ulven, who goes by the stage name Girl In Red, to take the stage. As soon as she came out the entire crowd cheered and screamed for her, you could really tell how excited everyone was to see her perform. She opened with the song “You Stupid B*tch” and immediately fans joined her in singing at the top of their lungs. After the first song she thanked everyone for coming out to the show, she explained that she was slightly sick but she was still going to give us the time of our life. She continued to perform some more of her songs such as “Body and Mind”,”Apartment 402”, “4am” and many others.

There was a point where Ulven sang two fan favorites, “girls” and “we fell in love in october” and wow did the crowd go absolutely wild. They screamed the songs at the top of their lungs while dancing with their friends. Seeing everyone have such a good time made me realize how big of an impact Ulven had on her fans. Her last song of the night was “I wanna be your girlfriend”, before she sang the song she nicely told fans to put away their phones and enjoy the moment. She went out into the crowd and sang the song with everyone, there was even a moment where she crowd surfed, it caught us all by surprise but it was definitely a cool moment to share between the fans and the artist. If Girl in Red ever comes to a city near you please make sure to attend, you will not regret it!
