Experiencing music live is absolutely a memorable experience. Every sense in your body comes alive. You can’t help but to smile every five seconds, and your eyes are filled with light shining rays of excitement. You feel an intimate connection with the band. The music that bounces off the walls fills your soul. The adrenaline rushes through your body. You look over your shoulder and see the people behind you dancing like there is no tomorrow. You look beside you and your best mates are singing (screaming) at the top of their lungs: “Oh, Natalie You keep me up, keep me in trouble Oh, Natalie You keep me up, keep me in trouble.” They jump at the beat of the drums, and next thing you know your feet start doing the same. Your mind suddenly forgets that you are the worst dancer in the world. You start twirling, singing, swinging your arms up in the air in robotic sort of way. Having the best time of your life- you look up and find yourself staring into the eyes of Kevin and your heart melts inside. It is just you and him ( and the crowd filling the room, but you block them out). The music is still bouncing of your body, and the adrenaline still rushing through you. That last note strikes, the spell breaks, and that moment stays in your mind forever.
What a way to live life. What a class band HUNNY is. Jason Yarger (lead vocalist and guitarist), Jake Goldstein and Jake Munk (guitarists), Greg Horne (bassist), Kevin Gerimmett (keyboardist), and Joey Anderson (drummer) all charming and talented. Their music is unique- the lyrics are sad, but the beat picks up the song. Their sound has a post punk rock vibe to it, and their style takes you back to a prom in the 80’s (in the best way possible). They carry out their songs with clean drum tracks, unique guitar tracks, electrifying baselines, and killer vocals. Their melodies and lyrics are something fresh in the music industry today- Darkwave is what I would describe them as. The lyrics are unusual, but catchy at the same time. They take me back to a magical era in music- to the Post- Punk Era of the 70’s. I feel like The Cure would be proud of music like this today, but like always do not take my word for it check out our interview with the band in the video below!
