Music, Why Not!

Introducing What Would Rory Wynne Do? EP

The music scene in the U.K is by far one of the best out there. Loads of talented singer/ songwriters, indie rock bands, jazz groups craft the beginnings of a musical career in bars across the various towns in England. So, with this is in mind I find it hard to believe when people tell me “good music is dead.” There is an immense amount of talented passionate individuals creating “good music.” What does this phrase “good music” mean? There is really no answer it can mean a lot different things- lets just say it is all based on perspective. What can be said about this term “good music,” is that there is amazing music being produced out there everyday. Now more than ever it is so easy to find music from all over the world with the help of online streaming platforms such as Souncloud and Spotify.

I was recently introduced to a really talented singer song writer from the U.K Rory Wynne. His debut EP What Would Rory Wynne Do? Is really good. It is those records you find yourself playing none stops for  long periods of time. The album was produced by  The Coral’s James Skelly and Richard Turvey  who have also worked with Blossoms, Cabbage, and She Drew the Gun just to name a few at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios. It is everything a good indie pop  record should be.

“Star in The Sky” is the first track on the record. It sounds like a modern dream rock song. The second song “Tell Me Now” follows. It is a bit slower than the opening tune, but it can still stand alone as single. It is a passionate modern love song I would say.     “In the Dark” follows it is my personal favorite. I really like his introduction with his guitar and very soft drum tracks. This is a good “car drive” kind of song. This is perfect song to blast while you commute to school or work. It is grand but not noisy, and the guitar solo is another level of greatness. He still has slow vibe to his voice in this song, but it still has enough power to wake you up in the morning or to help you stay awake through the night. The last song “After me” starts off slow and picks up immediately. This time both drums and guitars start playing automatically in sync perfectly together. This song is one you want to sing with your best mates at a music festival in the middle of the desert where everyone is having a good time filling their souls with quality music. You know  there is something awesome whenever you find a great record that you can listen to with your friends at home. It is even more exciting to find good live music, but it is even greater to find an artist that can achieve both. This record does just that. Playing it home sounds just as grand as playing at a festival with thousands of other people. It really showcases Rory’s songwriting abilities and killer vocals. He is definitely an artist to keep in your radar, and this album is definitely on our favorites list!

Rory is also currently touring with Blossoms as their supporting act so make sure to catch his set at The VO5 NME Awards tour. He will also be playing Liverpool Sound City  & Kendal Calling festivals! Listen to Rory’s new album below and check out his social media to be up to date with his music!
