JMBLYA @ Sam Houston Race Park – Houston, TX

This past weekend the 6th annual JMBLYA wrapped up in Houston, Tx. This was the first time the festival returned to Houston since 2013 and it did not disappoint. There were many well-known artists in the lineup including: J. Cole, Migos, T.I., Playboi Carti and many more. Each of these artists had a different vibe to bring to the festival and it was something that tied everyone together.

Headliner, J. Cole performed songs from his new album “KOD”, even though the album was just released, his die-hard fans were singing their hearts out to the new songs. There were many fans who were crying, laughing, smiling and going through many emotions during his set and it’s something nice to see because it shows how much they relate to the lyrics and they each had their own interpretation.

T.I. is an artist that everyone knows, he has had many hits including “Live Your Life”, “Whatever You Like”, “Dead and Gone” etc. When he played these songs you immediately saw everyone’s faces light up with a smile, including my own. The songs that were played on the radio in the 2000’s were being played live in front of us and everyone was singing along with a nostalgic feeling.

The festival brought many people together from age groups together and it’s safe to say that JMBLYA was a huge hit. Hopefully the festival returns to Houston in 2019 with another amazing lineup and crowd.
