Canadian electronic duo Junior Boys took to the stage for an energetic and dynamic performance Thursday night at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.
As the lights dimmed (considerably) and the ambient notes of “Must Be All the Wrong Things” began to play, the audience was entranced by the delicate progression of the track. Jeremy Greenspan’s voice is instantly recognizable for its tender and curious timbre and, 20 years into their career, it hasn’t changed a bit. Greenspan’s vocals floated over playful rhythms at times, thumping bass at others; it was an exhibition of clashing textures melting together into a greater whole.
The stage set up was sparse and moody, much like a lot of their music. The duo’s setlist included a mix of old and new tracks, spanning their career from their early days in the early 2000s to their most recent album, Waiting Game, released last year. Highlights of the night included fan (and personal) favorite “In the Morning,” “Teach Me How to Fight,” and “Parallel Lines,” each of which showcased the duo’s impeccable chemistry with one another.
Junior Boys continue their tour at the end of February, heading to the east coast and south before finishing in the midwest in March. You can find the dates and other information about Junior Boys here
