Kero Kero Bonito @ The Fonda – Los Angeles, CA (Support: Lealani)

Kero Kero Bonito played the Fonda Theater on Halloween to a crowd decked in costumes ranging from Fred Flinstone to Anthony Fantano.  Opening the night was Lealani, a solo act who may have been the happiest person in the theater to be there.  I was pretty blown away by her act.  Her persona stems from the cult 1973 classic FANTASTIC PLANET.  She’s decked in blue paint from the movie and played a number of songs from her release by the same name the intergalactic, industrial beats paired with her Sylvan Esso-esque voice was a fun and infectious way to start the evening.

KKB followed and put on a phenomenal show as well.  The lead singer, Sarah Bonito, has incredible stage presence and knew exactly how to work the crowd.  They ran through previous hits and songs off their newly released EP Civilization I.  They ended the night with a costume contest a couple covers – a fun, unexpected, and perfect way to end the evening.
