King Princess @ House of Blues – Houston, TX

King Princess brought the “Hold On Baby” tour to Houston and it was a spectacular show that left everyone wanting more.

The first opener of the night was Em Beihold. She played a range of her songs from “Groundhog Day” to one of her biggest hits such as “Numb Little Bug”. She had some hardcore fans singing in the crowd and made plenty of new ones as well, she was a great way to open the show. The next person to perform was local drag queen Blackberri. She came out in a devil outfit and covered Kate Bush’s “Running Up that Hill”. Attendees joined in singing and cheering her on, you could even see some fans trying to tip her for the performance, it was something I’ve never seen before but definitely enjoyed it.

It was finally time for King Princess to perform. There were fans that had tickets to the show since July, and due to personal circumstances the show had to be rescheduled to November, these fans are the ones who were the most excited for the show to start. As soon as the lights went out, the venue was filled with cheers and excitement. The show opened with “Little Brother” and everyone immediately started jumping, singing and dancing. The excitement and energy in the room was incredible. A few songs that followed were “Upper West Side”, “Too Bad” and “Hit The Back”, a good range of her discography.  The singer then took a moment to thank the fans for coming out to the show, she stated that it was the second to last tour date and wanted everyone to have as much fun as possible.

The show continued with “Change The Locks”, “I Hate Myself, I Want To Party” and “Ain’t Together”. During some of these songs the singer would alternate between her guitar and the piano, it was truly impressive. There were some moments where the singer got off the stage, and came into the crowd and sang with them, you could see the excitement on their face by being so close to the singer. King Princess then proceeded to play some of her most popular songs such as “Talia” and “1950”, which is how I discovered her, as well as many other fans. The fans were at their loudest when these two songs were performed, every single person in the venue was singing along, it was incredible. The last two songs of the night were “Sex Shop” and “Let Us Die”, the entire show was beyond amazing, from the singer and production, to fans and the atmosphere, every moment was special. We can’t wait to see what’s next for King Princess.
