Whilst many in the world were stuck in rut during the Covid pandemic, American indie pop trio LANY got to work, releasing two albums within the space of a year in ‘Mama’s Boy’ and the newly released ‘gg bb xx’. With live music slowly making its long-awaited return around the world, gg bb xx couldn’t have been released at a more perfect time as the boys quickly announced both a UK and North American tour just weeks after its release on the 3rd of September. We were lucky enough to catch the LANY as they made their way to Manchester at the Manchester Academy with the support of Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot.
LANY’s production and sheer dedication to live performances never ceases to amaze me and this night was no different, the stage was set with giant LED screens which played stunning visuals that wowed the crowd throughout the concert. The atmosphere during the night can only be described as electric, the mancunian crowd and fans of LANY in general have a clear admiration for the group in which they adore and it was shown as the night went on. Fan favourites like, ‘Cowboy in LA’, ‘Malibu Nights’ and ‘You!’ were all echoed throughout the packed-out venue and lead singer Paul Klein joined the crowd multiple times throughout the night to truly feel the love that was on show.
