Have you ever seen a merch line so long that it extends across both floors of the entire venue?  That was a microcosm of the scene at Fonda Theatre Sunday night in LA for Last Dinosaurs sold out show.

The band’s origins go back to 2009 in Australia; Brisbane to be exact.  Their debut album In a Million Years quickly gained traction in the scene and peaked at #8 in the Australian charts. Since, they’ve released two more well-received albums and are prepping another for a November 2022 release.

Their passionate fandom doesn’t limit itself to just Australia.  The two brothers – Sean Caskey and Lachlan Caskey – are both of Japanese descent, so frequent stops are made in Japan.  And if Sunday night was any indication, the passion in the U.S. is just as strong as anywhere.

The show exploded out of the gates with “Take Your Time”, “Collect Call”, and “Bass God”.  Colorful lights surrounded the band and each member of the group couldn’t help but smile looking out at their raucous audience.

As the set progressed, Last Dinosaurs hit on all their studio albums so far and treated the audience to a few previews of newer material.  In what has become a mainstay on this tour, the lead singer leapt from the stage out into the crowd late in the set and crowd surfed around the venue.  It was a victory lap of sorts from a band that’s been putting in work for over a decade and seems to be getting their well-deserved flowers.

This was the last stop of Last Dinosaurs’ U.S. tour.  Next month, they’ll hit Mexico for four dates and in August they’ll stop by Lollapolooza. For all things Last Dinosaurs click here and for photos of the LA show, see below.
