Music, Why Not!

Little Simz @ Albert Hall – Manchester, U.K.

British-Nigerian rapper Little Simz is paving the way for female rap stars in the UK, only recently was she the recipient of ‘Best Female Act’ at the MOBO awards after receiving 11 nominations since 2014 and it was high-time for this rising star to step into the spotlight. Simz released her fourth studio album, ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ in September of 2021 which received critical acclaim and even earned her a well-deserved number 1 on the UK R&B album charts. We were lucky enough to catch the talented 27-year-old on tour as she performed to a sold-out crowd in Manchester down at the Albert Hall. Support for the night came from OTG.

Little Simz burst onto the stage as the crowd responded with giant screams and the star was already smiling from cheek to cheek as she greeted those in attendance. The night started night with fan favourites, ‘Introvert’ and ‘I love you, I hate you’ before the rapper took a second to welcome the mancunian crowd to the tour and thanked them for their response to her album and for coming out to the show. It was a stormy night in Manchester but Simz brought her own storm of energy to make it a memorable night for everyone Simz would go on to explain to the adoring crowd that, “The first time [she] played in this city there were about ten people in the audience. Now look at this!” and it was simply a touching moment and the gratitude from the artist was as bright as day. In what was one of the most powerful encores I have seen in this spectacular and historic venue LIttle Simz performed her most well-known track ‘Venom’ which the crowd had been waiting with anticipation to hear live and the pay-off was monumental. The ground shaking performance is still imprinted in my mind this very morning and it was a brilliant show to be a part of. Little Simz is simply destined for greatness.
