The incredible Danish pop group Lukas Graham made their stop while on their North American tour in Dallas, Texas this past Saturday. They put on a great a show starting from their opening act Australian singer Hein Cooper. What a great opening act might I just add. His beautiful voice filled the packed House of Blues. I have been fortunate to cover many shows there from alternative rock bands, electropop groups, to country music. Not once have I ever seen the venue so packed. The balcony area was filled, and the pit well it was so crazy filled with fans awaiting to hear the stories within the bands tunes. They have a brass section that is completely breathtaking. Fun fact! They were actually shooting a live music video during the entire gig! It was so fun to photograph the band under such limited pit access circumstances haha but it was still a great time. They played all their hits from the album closing of the night with the one and only “Seven Years.” This concert is one worth attending. The musicianship this band has is mind blowing. True, class musicians- I will tell ya that for sure. The band consist of Lukas Graham- Front man of the band and the genius behind all the songs they play. Coming from a humble background he states “We were those kids who were always dirtier than the other kids because our scope away from home was so huge. “We weren’t poor. We just didn’t have enough. When you grow up like that, you end up showing more than you need to. I do that in my music. Instead of making up a pretty little love story about some girl I like, I end up singing about my boys in jail and how I feel. It’s easier for me to be honest about who I am than to start making up some fairytale.” I truly agree with this and it is well reflected within his honest songs about his up bringing, dead father, and friends in jail. His music is one that captivates your soul. It isn’t your typical love song- in fact it extend far beyond that. The band also consists of the very impressive/ charismatic Magnum and the very talented drummer Mark Falgren. It all comes down to the way an artist presents their music to an audience. Do they do it with passion? Love? Integrity? Excitement? Well this band sure does all of the above!
