Los Ángeles Azules Preview – Portland, Or

Los Ángeles Azules make their return to the Portland stage, passing through our pocket of the Pacific Northwest to play at the Keller Auditorium for the first time this Friday, September 20th. With the group’s 40-year-long career and almost 60 (and counting) albums out, the six Mejía Avante siblings are no strangers to a little touring. And with their explosive growth after their 2018 Coachella set, and the help of the reworked “Nunca Es Suficiente” by Natalia Fourcade into a cumbia dream, the group has been able to come from Iztapalapa to Portland for what will now be the fourth time.

Even though Los Ángeles Azules have enjoyed stable touring the US for 10+ years, it wasn’t until 2018 that the group made it up into the upper left of the country, and in 2019 they made it to Portland for the very first time. Since then, fans have been faithful every year possible, and it was no different when they received the Premio Trayectoria Artística (Lifetime Achievement) award in October at the Premios Billboard and announced they’d be embarking on their El Amor de Mi Vida tour in February 2024. Fitting that a tour named after their hit collaboration with Maria Becerra, called “The Love of My Life”, starts in February, right?

The first leg of the tour finished in April, and a Fall leg is set to kick off on the 19th in Vancouver, BC (for the first time EVER) and span 12 nights of nothing but cumbias and good times. And with their very first Latin GRAMMY nomination just announced for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album, this tour is sure to be supercharged from the jump.
