HOUSTON- On Saturday night I spent an evening with indie-pop bands Night Lights and Mako for their 2018 Breathe Tour. Opening for Mako was a trio group named “Night Lights” that brought a unique sound to the White Oak Music Hall stage. Their music brought uplifting and heartbreaking sensations to the audience and interacted very effectively. They each come from different countries like Mexico, Japan, and Norway and represent this diversity within their sounds. I instantly became a fan of their music after a few songs were played with pure passion and excitement.
Shortly after Night Lights took off the stage, Mako was ready to wow the crowd. Lead singer Alex Seaver came out of a back door and went straight to the front of the stage to interact with eager fans. The band played some of their big hits like “Smoke Filled Room” and newer single titled “Breathe” that had the crowd jumping. Other band members played drums, bass, guitar, and even a violin for certain songs! The bands high energy filled the intimate room instantly and created an atmosphere like no other. When a band can perform at their best for a crowd big or small, it says a lot about the meaning of their music and with Mako I could feel that speciality at this live show.
