Mala Luna Music Festival 2018 – San Antonio, TX

Tyler The Creator by Juan Badillo

On October Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th, Mala Luna, one of the biggest festivals took place at the Nelson Wolff Stadium parking lot in San Antonio,TX.

Within a blink of an eye the clock hit 1pm on Saturday and it was time for our very first artist to kick off the festival. Mala Luna had two stages throughout the weekend as performers went on to perform on the other stage right after one finished. Marisa Rose Mejia opened up on the Lone Star Stage and had the crowd going. There was a moment through her performance when she had announced that she was barely 12 years old and the entire gasped and looked at each other in disbelief. I had to put down my camera  for a quick moment and look at other people to see if I had heard correctly. She has extremely amazing talent for such a young artist.

Thirty minutes passed and it was time for San Antonio’s very own Angel Cintron to kick off at the The Beat Stage. She looked very confident throughout her performance and I truly think the fans helped her as she had announced that there were so many familiar faces in the crowd including some family members.

The festival continued and it was getting close for the time to see one of my favorite artists from the lineup. He goes by the name of Lil Baby and he is truly having an amazing year as his music is sky rocketing on sales. I finally had the chance to see him perform and it was amazing to see the entire crowd jumping on their feet to his music.

The sun went down and we were getting closer to seeing one of the artists I was also excited to see and the headliner of Saturday night’s lineup, Cardi B. But first I got to see Tyler The Creator and it was truly surreal seeing him right in front of me. I love everything about him. His persona honestly makes him one of the most outgoing artists in the music industry. He had just recovered from a car wreck he was involved in two weeks ago and had some back problems as he told us but that did not stop him from putting an amazing show for us.

An hour later, it was finally time for Cardi B to perform for her first time since she had her newborn baby. It is truly amazing how these artists put their fans first into everything as she talked to the crowd as if it was her very own family. The connection she has with them is amazing. She closed her performance with her long time trending song “I like it” as she sent the crowd home with smiles.
