Music, Why Not!

Mitski @ White Oak Music Hall – Houston, TX

Mitski brought her tour to a sold out crowd at White Oak Music Hall and it was such an amazing show, it should not have been missed.

Fans were waiting outside in the cold rainy weather as early as 7 in the morning to try and make sure they got a good spot inside the venue. Their dedication amazed me. The venue/tour required a negative covid test or a vaccination card to get entry into the show, the staff was very proactive and checked everyone in line as they came and waited and gave them their wristband. Fans were very cooperative with the rules and you could tell they appreciated it considering the situation that we’re unfortunately in.

When the doors opened all the fans ran inside the venue and ran towards the stage, trying to get as close as possible to see their favorite artist. Those who arrived the earliest were the happiest as their hard work and dedication got them a spot right at the barricade. The Japanese group, Chai, opened the show and they were such a blast to see. The crowd really loved the band’s energy and were dancing the whole time. There was a moment where they covered “We’re all in this together” from High School Musical which made the crowd join them along in unison.

It was finally time for Mitski to perform, before the show started her voice came on over the speakers and thanked everyone for coming to the show, she encouraged everyone to keep their masks on to keep everyone safe and so that they could continue touring. Mitski came out in a black hoodie telling the crowd she decided to change at the last minute as it was freezing and raining the entire night. She performed her first song “Love Me More” and immediately the crowd went wild. Everyone sang along to their favorite artist. She continued to sing multiple songs including some fan favorites such as “Nobody”, “Me and My Husband” and “First Love / Late Spring”. I really admired her performative dancing acts while singing, it tells such a story through her dancing and lyrics.

After a few songs, Mitski gave a small speech, thanking everyone for coming out to the show and for keeping each other safe through the use of masks. She then proceeded to sing more songs like “I Will”, “Geyser” and “Heat Lightning”, her entire setlist had a good amount of songs from her entire discography, it was very diverse and something that I liked. She finished the show with “Two Slow Dancers” and the crowd absolutely went crazy. For a “slow” song the fans sang it as loud as they could and danced throughout the venue. This show was very memorable for myself and others.

Below are the tour dates for Mitski, please make sure you go to her show as it’s a concert you won’t want to miss!
