The multi-venue spectacular event that is Neighbourhood Festival is ready to take over Manchester city centre for a jam-packed day of music and celebrations. This year’s line-up is absolutely stacked with the best rising acts the country has to offer. These are just a few of our one’s to watch from this year’s spectacular line-up.
Afflecks Palace
Named after the infamous clothing and culture building in Manchester, local lads ‘Afflecks Palace’ have been making monstrous waves this year inside Manchester and within the North West. The boys describe themselves as “Your favourite new band” and in all honestly, they might just be that. Their music is heavily influenced by legends of the past like The Smiths and the Stone Roses and yet they still bring something completely fresh to the table with incredible melodic tracks like “Forever Young” and “Pink Skies”. There’s a fascinating aura around the Afflecks Palace lads and you can just sense that the band is destined for greater things in the future. This festival could be a pivotal in their rise to the top, get on the bandwagon while you still can.
Nell Mescal
With a string of headline shows in Ireland coming up in October, including an already sold-out show in Dublin, Irish singer-song writer Nell Mescal is already hitting the ground running with her live performances. Her slot at Neighbourhood Festival is perfect to catch a glimpse at this rising talent and to see how talented her musical skills are at just 19 years old. Quitting school to pursue her passion for music birthed her debut single “Graduating” which has kickstarted her already promising career. The emotional and personal song is an incredible introduction to Nell and just a preview of what she has to offer. Having guidance and support from none other than Phoebe Bridgers and paired with her own talents of course, Nell is sure to be an act to remember for the future and catching her set will give you a glimpse of that up close.
Alfie Templeman
Since his solo debut in 2018 Indie R&B musician Alfie Templeman has released an astounding four EPs before releasing his first studio album Mellow Moon in the May of this year. Much like his album title, Alfie Templeman is fast rising metaphorically to the moon, with his album reaching number 1 on the UK indie charts and playing a leg of sold-out UK shows in support of the record. His live shows are full of energy, much like his tantalising tracks, and if his tour is anything to go by then his set at this year’s Neighbourhood Festival is not one to miss.
Dlyan
Dylan is set to head out on an already sold-out tour across the UK at the start of November meaning her set at this year’s Neighbourhood Festival may be your only chance to see her live if you weren’t lucky enough to snag tickets. However, catching her set here will tell you just why this tour sold-out in such quick timing. From supporting Ed Sheeran on his huge stadium tour to releasing tracks like ‘girl of your dreams’, it’s been a very busy summer for rising superstar Dylan. The indie-popstar is certainly one to keep an eye out for at this year’s festival and one to remember for the future, with her catchy sound and lyrics it’s going to be no time before she headlines future festivals herself.
The Snuts
With a brand-new album on the horizon, The Snuts are rapidly gaining traction as one of the UK’s most exciting acts. The Scottish Indie-rock band are setting off on a 14 date UK tour with their headlining slot at Neighbourhood Festival being the first night of what is set to be their biggest tour to date. The band have established themselves as a key voice for the youth, tackling tough subjects and social issues with their music. The Snuts also put on one hell of a live show, thanks to their talents and their adoring fanbase who always show up in great fashion whenever The Snuts are in town. They’re guaranteed to close the festival with an unforgettable set that you simply cannot miss.
