The_Vistas

Noel Gallagher- The once driving force of one of the most successful rock bands that came out of England said in an interview with NME “Rock’n’roll is not dead as long as I’m still going, it’s fucking not. It’s there but it’s certainly lacking the re-generation process.” He argued that “working class bands” are almost none existent because a label wont pay attention to them. They are usually scruffy and do whatever the f*ck they want with their music. It is rare to find a band that is willing to put the time to make quality records without being signed to a label. Currently the only band I have heard of that worked their asses for years before playing in the big leagues.. Catfish and The Bottlemen…. I kept thinking to myself there has to be another band that has been working at their craft for a long time. Whether they are 14 or 22 there has to be quality bands hiding somewhere out there making music for the masses to go mad to at festivals. Then I heard of The Vistas “Scotland’s freshest, promising, up and coming alternative rock band.” as listed in there about me on their Facebook. Promising Ey? Indeed they are.

I not only had the chance to speak to two of the band members about their music, but also got an exclusive listen at their new E.P set to be released early February of this year. The minute our conversation started in regards to their musical influences, aspirations, sound development, etc- I was hooked. At first they seem like normal guys, but when they got on to talk about their music they captured me and took me into their world. The world of producing rock and roll tunes. The album I can tell is going to be a hit among the people that have been able to save themselves from the annoying wave of pop tunes that play on the radio over and over and over again. I don’t think they would be or would want to be topping the charts. Since everything playing both on U.K and U.S charts is total shit. Like Noel Gallagher told NME: “If you’re Number One in the charts now, it automatically means you must be shit. Bands now go cap-in-hand to the industry and the industry has already decided what it wants for the fucking chart stars. But the charts are all the fucking same. Every single song in the Top 10 is the same shit with a different voice.” I don’t think this album would be a chart topper not because it lacks musical integrity, but because the pure fact that people just don’t know what good music is (even if it is hitting them across the face). I can definitely tell you however, that they are capable of amounting to the success that Catfish and The Bottlemen has and is doing. I bring them up again because they were in their shoes not to long ago. The Vistas which consist of Irwin, Dave, Roddy, and  Eamonn are on the high rise to playing in the big leagues soon.

The album, lets talk about that a little more. It is brilliant. The evolution of their sound is shocking-in the best possible way. What shocked me the most is the way they use the instruments in their favor. Loads of bands now a days just sound like noise, but they are so technical and clean it is so fresh and enjoyable to be able to listen to a distinguished melody and consistent drum and bass tracks. The vocals are killer especially in the third song where they strip it down a bit more. The last track has such a phenomenal guitar solo- it is very technical. The drums are consistent in every song… they literally never miss a beat, they are the back up power house of the band and deliver greatly. The bass which is often overlooked for some stupid reason cannot be in this occasion. They had one of the cleanest bass lines in the second song that I have yet heard from a new band. Overall the record is precises, exciting, and the lyrics are relatable. After you listen to it- one can just tell they poured their hearts out into making this. It is with a doubt that they have become one of my favorite bands. I am so humbled to get to see their music grow from the start. I am sure very soon The Vistas will be playing festivals and touring all over the world. Their music is amazing and I am sure it will amount to a lot! Good “working class bands” are not dead at all people just aren’t looking. Be sure to follow the band on their social media accounts which will be listed below to learn more about the lads. Stay tuned for their album which comes out February 15, 2017 . More news coming to Music, Why Not! soon!
