Newton Faulkner @ Hangar 34 – Liverpool, U.K.

Newton Faulkner Enchants Liverpool with a Dazzling Setlist at Hangar 34.

In a night that can only be described as pure musical alchemy, Newton Faulkner took the stage at Hangar 34 in Liverpool and wove a spellbinding tapestry of sound and emotion with a setlist that left the audience in awe.

Kicking off the evening with the hauntingly beautiful “Been Here Before,” Faulkner set the tone for an unforgettable journey through his musical universe. The crowd was immediately drawn in by his soulful vocals and masterful guitar work. Next, we could hear songs like “Never Alone,” “Clouds,” and “I Need Something” being loudly sung along with everyone in the club.

Then, the crowd erupted into cheers as Faulkner launched into a breathtaking cover of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop,” putting his own unique spin on the iconic track and infusing it with his signature style.

It’s worth mentioning that the artist had a great connection with the audience. We could hear him talking about his songs, sharing stories related to music with the addition of a great British sense of humor. Many solo performers do that, but with Newton, you could sense a real strong connection with his fans.

Following the song ‘Full Fat,’ a fan request was fulfilled, and we were treated to a live performance of the song ‘U.F.O.’ for the sixth time ever. Faulkner’s virtuosity on the guitar was nothing short of awe-inspiring. His fingers danced across the strings with precision and grace, conjuring melodies that seemed to defy the limits of possibility.

The song “Hit the Ground Running” ended the first part of the concert. The theatre-style interval surprised me; I didn’t expect it from this nearly 40-year-old performer at a Saturday night concert in a nightclub. After a 20-minute break, we enjoyed more sing-alongs to hits like “Pulling Teeth” and “Finger Tips.”

Next, we could hear a soul-stirring rendition of his hit “Dream Catch Me.” It’s incredible how one person with a guitar can engage with the crowd, but it’s the magic of music. Now, literally everyone in the room is moving in some way!

The last songs of the evening were “Smoked Ice Cream,” “Gone in the Morning,” and the mighty “Write It on Your Skin.” This was the perfect finale to a night filled with unforgettable moments and musical brilliance.
