Who’s that, what’s what? It’s only the legend that is Niko B of course! The English rapper, real name Tom Austin, shot to fame in 2020 as his previously mentioned track ‘Who’s that what’s that?’ went viral, seeing great success on TikTok and propelling the youngster into the industry. It’s almost impossible to limit the 21-year-old’s musical talents to one genre, with his unique sound and style he’s carving out a path of originality and mastering his craft as he does so. We were lucky enough to catch this rising star in Manchester at the Club Academy as he set out on his first ever headlining UK tour, named the ‘Made in a bedroom tour’. Support for the night came from Nega Brandon.
In an early interview Niko B had previously said that he used to vomit before a live performance in the early stages of his career, he seems to have since overcome this fear as he bounced onto the stage with sheer joy to greet the crowd in attendance to kicked the night off with ‘International Baby’. Niko B only has a handful of released tracks so it was a given that the night would be full of unreleased tracks and these were an absolute delight to hear live and further cement why this youngster is definitely one to keep your eye on as he’s soon to be something big. His comedic personality outside of music was also put on display during the show and further added to his incredible performance, it was fun, it was flashy, and it was fantastic. Alongside unreleased tracks like ‘Canada Goose’ and ‘Same moon’, he performed fan favourites such as ‘Quick Drive’ and ‘Mary Berry’. The night ended with a bang as the room metaphorically exploded when Niko B dived head first into performing ‘Who’s that what’s that’ and it was clear the crowd had been waiting for this moment for many months and Niko delivered.
