MWN: We are here with Oz Noy lead guitarist of the band Ozone Squeeze. Well first of all thanks so much for taking the time to answer these questions! Let’s kick things off by traveling back in time. Can you tell me a little bit of background info about why you decided to become musician?
Oz Noy: I started to play guitar at the age 10, not sure why? Just started to listen to the Beatles and I guess wanted to do the same…
MWN: The Beatles have inspired a lot of great artist. So what sort of music did you grow up listening to? Does it influence what you make today?
Oz Noy: The Beatles and Israeli pop and rock music. Also at some point jazz came into the picture… Chick Corea, John Mchlaghlin, Al Dimeola etc… it influences what I do today to some degree for sure.
MWN: Those are some cool combinations to get inspired. What is the process in the recording studio like? What do you guys focus on the most when recording?
Oz Noy: I like to record when the whole band is playing together to get an organic band sound. We try to focus on playing as good as possible and get best takes for the songs that we can choose from later.
MWN: That makes sense. So what do you hope people get from your music?
Oz Noy: Joy.
MWN: Nice and simple. I read you guys are embarking on a tour. How do you mentally prepare for life on the road?
Oz Noy: I don’t have an answer for that, you just got out and do it…:)
MWN: When I get the chance I’ll definitely hit the road with a band. I really like the song “Chase thee Clouds” it’s very sort of jazzy and beautiful. Can you tell me a little more about the song?
Oz Noy: Rai wrote the song, he will know best … I’ll forward him the questions also, I like the song also a lot!
MWN: Haha okay thanks! Alright lets go to some random fire round questions. What is your favorite love song?
Oz Noy: Carless Wisper.
MWN: Good pick. What about your first recollection of live music?
Oz Noy: A famous Israeli pop/rock band in the early 80’s.
MWN: First record you ever bough?
Oz Noy: I don’t know.
MWN: Really? The first I record I ever bought was Pyromania by Def Leppard. It still holds a special spot in my heart. Haha! Alright to wrap things up! First thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions. Lastly is there anything you’d like to say to the people who have supported your music?
Oz Noy: Thanks and keep supporting my music and music in general, we need you!
MWN: Cool, thanks so much!
