Music, Why Not!

Panic! At The Disco @ Toyota Center – Houston, TX

Panic! At The Disco returned to Houston for the “Viva Las Vengeance” Tour in support of their 7th album “Viva Las Vengeance” and it was an incredible show that shouldn’t have been missed.

Before doors opened, you could be part of an interactive experience called “Viva Las Airstream”, where you could go inside a small airstream caravan to take photos, look at cool setups and props and even buy exclusive merchandise while this was up and running. Fans enjoyed every moment of it and you could see how much more excited they were for the actual show to start.

The first opener of the night was Jake Wesley Rogers. He performed some of his hit songs which included “Modern Love”. He was full of energy, charisma and showed off his excellent vocal skills, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Up next was Chicago band Beach Bunny. They also played some of their hits which included “Cloud 9” and a personal favorite, “Prom Queen”. During the set they had some minor technical difficulties and they handled it with complete professionalism. The fans definitely enjoyed both of these openers.

It was finally time for Panic to perform, a few moments before the show started, a timer came on the screens and fans cheered in excitement looking at the countdown. Fans tried to get to their seats as soon as possible for show time, as soon as the timer hit 10 seconds, everyone counted down louder and louder and cheered as the music started playing. Lead singer, Brendon Urie elevated onto the stage and opened the show with “Say Amen (Saturday Night)”, it fit the show perfectly as the concert was on a Saturday night. Urie then proceeded to sing fan favorites such as “Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time” and “This is Gospel”.

After a brief intermission and amazing interludes, Urie came back with a small wardrobe change, a vest associated with the “Viva Las Vengeance” album and played the entire album in order from start to finish, it’s something that I found very fascinating. Some popular songs from the album that were played included “Viva Las Vengeance”, “Middle of a Breakup” and “Don’t Let The Light Go Out”. Something else that was also attention grabbing was the orchestra that was performing with the band. All the instruments being played live gave me chills, and Urie made sure that they each got the recognition and solos that they deserved.

As the show came closer to an end, more fan favorite songs were being played. During “Girls/Girls/Boys” there was a fan project made where different colored hearts were placed throughout the arena and fans were encouraged to shine their phone flashlight through the heart, causing the entire arena to light up and look like a rainbow, it was truly incredible. As soon as the intro started for “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” the venue roared with screams from fans, everyone was excited to hear this song that they grew up listening to. The night ended with “High Hopes” and it was one of the most memorable parts of the night. Urie had the arena singing the chorus and he was getting emotional as everyone sang the song back to him, it was a night everyone will remember. The North American leg of the tour is set to run until October, if Panic! At The Disco comes to a city near you please make sure to attend, you will NOT regret it!
