On a cold Friday night in Austin, TX, Pinegrove played to a completely sold out crowd at Emo’s. Pinegrove is touring in support of their latest album entitled Marigold, and a venue with the size and stature of Emo’s is evidence of the band’s rapidly growing, ever enthusiastic fanbase.
There were not many songs that lead singer Evan Stephens Hall had to sing alone, as much of the crowd sang every word to every song. I wouldn’t necessarily classify this as “Emo” music however the extremely relatable lyrics and the enthusiastic chorus of the crowd definitely harken back to the glory days of emo in the late 00’s. For anyone who still sings Brand New loudly in the shower (me), this Pinegrove show will have felt like coming home.
