Music, Why Not!

Porter Robinson @ The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park – San Diego, Ca.

Porter Robinson’s SMILE : D Tour in San Diego was a vibrant, immersive experience, blending his hyperpop sound with fan-favorite tracks from his earlier albums such as Nurture and Worlds. Backed by a full band, Robinson picked up a guitar and performed alongside, creating an energetic and emotional atmosphere. The stage design featured a massive pink billboard and anime-inspired visuals, with bright lighting, a huge inflated cat, and confetti blasts that complemented the playful tone of the Smile! : D set. Robinson kicked off his set with his newest and most popular track from the album called “Knock Yourself Out XD,” it was evident that this show experience would be something different unlike ever before. The audience sang along as lyrics appeared on the screen, with standout moments like the a cappella chorus of “Unfold” adding a communal feel to the show.

As the concert shifted into tracks from Nurture and Worlds, Robinson seamlessly brought the crowd on a nostalgic journey, performing songs like “Wind Tempos” and “Sea of Voices” with stunning geometric visuals and a dynamic live sound. The addition of the live band elevated the experience, adding depth and richness to Robinson’s signature sound. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to his music, this Smile! : D tour offered something for everyone, merging his past and present into an unforgettable and cohesive performance.
