Fresh off the back of a busy bank holiday weekend performing at the UK’s famous Reading & Leeds Festival, American singer-songwriter Role Model, real name Tucker Pillsbury, set out on the UK leg of his ‘TouRX’ tour which included dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and two dates in the capitol city of London. The 25-year-old released his debut studio album under Interscope Records in April of this year titled ‘Rx’ after previously releasing EP’s such as ‘Oh, how perfect’ and ‘Our little angel’. Role Model could well be on his way to being one of the biggest acts of this year with this already promising start to his career. The talented musician already has a devoted fanbase that spans across the pond and around the world, many of which were out in spectacular fashion when the youngster took over Manchester’s infamous O2 Ritz venue for a very special show. We were lucky enough to be there for the concert which saw amazing support acts, Oliver Malcolm and Flowerovlove kick off the show.

The room lit up with red lights that appeared from the stage and Role Model’s voice began to play out into the crowd. He welcomed the fans in attendance to the show and played a message about how anyone who is anyone is welcome to a Role Model show and to take care of one another throughout the night, it was a nice touch and showed his care for the ones who have supported his career thus far. Role Model took to the stage and the screams from the crowd filled out the venue almost instantly, he got the night underway with ‘if Jesus saves she’s my type’ and from the crowd’s reaction it was a very much favourite of theirs. As someone who has never seen Role Model live, he completely shattered my expectations merely minutes into his set. The star’s energy flowed throughout the Mancunian crowd long into the night, through every song he bounced across the stage serenading fans up close and he had a smile spread wide across his face the entire time. It was truly refreshing to see and Role Model clearly loves nothing more than performing his music to his adoring fans. As the concert continued Role Model would go on to play fan favourites like ‘Who hurt u?’, ‘neverletyougo’ and he even performed his most recent single ‘cross your mind’ which was only released 7 days ago. He ended the night with an encore of ‘Forever&more’ and I’m already itching to see a Role Model concert again, however I personally feel that it won’t be long before he is headlining big venues across both the UK and Europe…
